Improjazz (July/August 2017 #237)

A first, after 48 years (and counting)…More to the point, this happened without any networking or hustling on my part. (In this regard, it should also be noted I am not a viable commodity in the now, and for some time commodified world of improvised music/free jazz, and, additionally, have no “handlers”.) So, particularly in this day and age, where political positioning and, to use the current lexicon, branding are the norm, such an occurrence is as much a rarity as an aberration; and thus, all the more personally satisfying. Quoting a liner note from my second record: “Recognition over fame/Publicity over hype/Support over worship.”
